First of March

It is the first Sunday of March. Maria and Matt came over to hangout at lunch time. If it is lunch time and it is a Sunday, there is a good chance there is going to be pizza. Even more so when Maria brings her own sauce: Terri doesn’t like my sauce so I think she told Maria that her sauce was mandatory in order to participate in pizza day. They also brought over some fresh mozzarella:

Fourth of February

It is the fourth Sunday of February. It also the last day of the month and a rainy one at that. I was by myself today for pizza and that is always a great time for an experiment. I wanted to see if I could make a Ledo style pizza. Thin, square, cheesy–what is there not to love? The sauce is the easy part. That is sold at the local Giant grocery store:

Second of February

It is the second Sunday of February. Niles has been itching to try some of this Detroit-style pizza so I decided to make more this weekend. The plan was to make two pizzas today. These pizzas are hearty enough that two should be plenty of pizza for us to eat. I doubled the recipe from last week and then added three more spoonfuls of flour. My notes are not clear if those are supposed to be small spoons or large spoons.

First of February

It is the first Sunday of February. And it is SuperBowl Sunday too. Unfortunately, there is no SuperBowl party this year because of some virus. Terri and Zach went down to visit family in North Carolina, Ben is working, so I’m home alone. Pizza Hut is heavily advertising and trying to get my attention by showcasing a Pac-Man cocktail table in the commercial. I’m going to make my own pizza for the SuperBowl instead.

Last of January

It is the last Sunday of January. We finally got some snow around here: I invited Niles and Little T over for some pizza today but I wasn’t sure if they were going to come over due to the snow. A lot of the neighborhood kids were sledding down the hill behind our house. This was the first time in a year and a half that we had enough snow for that.

Fourth of January

It is the fourth Sunday of January. I am taking a break from making pizza this Sunday but I will instead write about the leftover dough from last week that I used on Tuesday. I ended up eating pizza four days in a row. I would like to say that I’m feeling tired of pizza but I cannot as I had leftover Ledo’s pizza for lunch today and it was good.

Third of January

It is the third Monday of January. I asked Niles if he wanted to come over for pizza this Sunday but he invited us over to his place for pizza and egg rolls instead. I can’t say no to that. Today was a holiday and I had some pizza sauce to use up. Why not have some pizza again today and make myself a pie? Actually, I had pizza on Saturday too.

Second of January

It is the second Sunday of January. Mehdi and Zineb came over and they wanted us to try some tuna pizza. Yes, you heard that correctly. Pizza with tuna. We are talking canned tuna here–not sushi tuna. When Mehdi first asked me where to get a good tuna pizza around here I thought he was trying to punk me. Apparently this is a popular pizza in Europe. I would have never known.

Third of December

It is the third Sunday of December. And one day before the Great Conjunction of 2020. We haven’t had a clear night sky here since last Thursday. Its partly cloudy out right now and I’m hoping the weather will cooperate for this event. I asked Niles if he wanted to come over for pizza today but he said that he was going to be too busy preparing for the Christmas holiday.

Second of December

It is the second Sunday of December. I was by myself today so I planned on using some of this special pizza yeast we have sitting in the cabinet: Terri was the first one to find yeast back on the shelves during the early weeks of the pandemic and bought a whole bunch of everything–the standard active dry yeast, the rapid rise yeast, and this special yeast for making pizza. I haven’t used it yet and its going to expire in a few months so today seemed like a good day to try this out.

First of December

It is the first Sunday of December. During the week Niles talked to somebody in the ‘Bury who worked at Ponzetti’s way back in the day. He drilled him for information and was able to confirm that the pizza sauce is from Don Pepino but with some additional seasoning and thinned out with some water. He also found out that the fat added to the pizza dough is shortening. I’ve never bought shortening before.

Last of November

It is the last Sunday of November. We decided on taking a break from making pizza this weekend due to the Thanksgiving holiday. There is enough food that gets eaten over the four days and making pizza on top of that was a bit much. I will instead write up about using the leftover dough from last weekend. I was planning on making tacos for dinner Monday night but I kept thinking about the dough that was sitting in the fridge.
